As soon as spring comes, we start dreaming about the beautiful beaches of Greece and the sky-blue sea.
However, if your diet is based on plant foods, you must be shaking your head in disbelief. Probably we all have heard that Greek cuisine is based solely on animal products. Lots of meat, lots of cheese – everywhere.
We will convince you otherwise. Let us introduce you a wonderful place. You can visit it with a camper or a tent.
About the campsite:
Camping Nisos is located 45 minutes from Lefkada and only 30 minutes from picturesque Parga.
Nestled in a dense olive grove, this campsite is still not very popular, making it the perfect place to relax.
Clean bathrooms and toilets, great infrastructure and nice staff. The campsite promises peace and positive vibes, along with the rhythm of a well-chosen music compilation.
The beach:
The beach is dotted with small pebbles. Тhe sea is pure and promising a plesent cooling.
The location of the campsite guarantees perfect sunsets every night. What more could you want from your vacation? “Food!” you will say.
The food:
The tavern and beach bar offer many vegan options.
In the tavern, we sit under the colorful shade of its terrace. The kind smiles of the staff only strengthen our conviction that no one will spoil our vacation here. Watching them serve, we believed that fast and friendly service in Greece is not a chimera.
Tavern menu is concise, but the possibilities for a rich dinner based on plants are many.
We start with a salad of fragrant tomatoes, green peppers, crispy cucumbers and onions and go through the typical Greek fava (φάβα) – an appetizer made of yellow split fava beans and horta (χόρτα) – steamed greens with a little olive oil and lemon juice.
Before we have time and say “no” we are served toasted, smeared with olive oil and sprinkled with oregano bread. We succumb to temptation.
Longing for more flavors, we order from their french fries and “Oh God!”, We get the most crunchy and delicious, hand-cut french fries.
Orzo pasta with mushrooms and beets is also magical.
Prices are in the low range, which only intensifies the sea idyll.
All drinks on the beach are served in fully compostable cups of water-based material that decomposes within 52 days, sugar cane caps and paper straws.
Other extras:
Containers for separate waste collection are also available. This makes the campsite even greener and more sustainable.
Insights:
- During the week the beach is not busy, but the weekends are filled with day tourists coming only to the beach. If you want a first line on Saturday or Sunday, get up early.
- Sunbeds are free. The waiter comes to ask if you want something from the bar, but doesn’t oblige you to order anything.
- The beach bar menu has two vegan options for cappuccino – cold and classic warm, to which by default they bring a small bottle of water. If you want a snack, they offer vegan spring rolls.
- Near the beach, in the sea, there is a relatively high rock from which you can jump into the sea.
- There is a market on the territory of the campsite, which offers water and other packaged products. There is a well-stocked vegetable and fruit shop just 350 meters from the campsite.
- Nearest Lidl is 14 km away, just before Preveza.
- Campsite has refrigerators and a kitchen for those who have decided to rest in a tent and do not have their own, as well as for everyone else.
